A Quick Update

I've been very well-behaved these last two weeks. I feel very ok and I've been really fighting the temptation to lace up and hit the familiar roads but I'm also scared of waking up an injury that may not have healed fully and so have been sticking to low intensity work-outs at home. Last week was yoga week - I found a few yoga videos online catering specifically to runners and I've been following those diligently. This week is strength and toning and I've been following an upper body, lower body, core circuit - about 30 minutes of each on a given day. I have a long way to go in terms of developing my strength & muscle tone,

During these non-running phases are when I tend to maximize on my running reading - just to keep my motivation and interest up and to prevent me from totally falling off the wagon. My favourite sites are runnersworld and competitor and I can spend hours exploring the articles and linked blogs. Another blog which I compulsively read is about Michelle Kakade's Great Indian Quadrilateral Run. If you read my post from October 25th last year, you know that I've been following her immensely inspirational feat from Day 1. In fact if you recall, I wanted to join her on her Chennai stint.

Michelle reached Chennai on 19th of March and it was her 151st day of running. Thanks to my injury (which was pretty fresh at the time) all thoughts of running were very far from my head. I can't believe this woman has now run 5393 kilometers across India over 176 days and is nearly at the finish line (her goal is 6010 k in 187 days). I am also quite surprised that this feat hasn't garnered more publicity and attention.

I continue to remain in awe.
